Two wrongs often make one big mess! If FireCap was in the left, shame-shame, shudda moved over. But, his "friend" could have easily just gone around without the tailgate. I am, however, one of those whose pet peeve is the left lane all-the-time driver.

In Connecticut folks have been cited for being in the "passing lane" and not passing.

The US is one of the only places in the whole world that ppl actually "drive" in the left lane. Everywhere else ppl drive in the right lane, pass in the left and then move back into the right. It's that attitude that "I am here, and I own the road" that always suprises me.

Get out of the way. It's safer for all parties concerned.

There's no excuse to ride on anyones @ss!!Slower traffic should keep right,at least that's what I was taught 20some years ago. Is it me, or does it seem like everyone loves the left lane these days?
It sure seems that way around here. Whenever I get behind a left lane "clot" I don't even bother flashing the lights. I just signal, move over, and pass. If they don't know enough to keep the passing lane open, they ain't gonna know what I'm carrying on about.

In Texas it's agin the law to drive in the left lane. Cops use it to stop people all the time. Signs say "Left Lane for Passing Only."

In any case, illegal or not, tailgating is stupid, and tailgating a bike is doubly stupid.

Firecap really didn't say, but sounded to me like he was in the one of the center lanes. I always consider on a 4-lane highway the two middle lanes the travel lanes, the right most lane the oncoming merge lane and the left lane the passing lane. If he wasn't in the furthermost left lane, I don't see why he would have to move over if the left lane is clear.

With that said, I recently read an article where motor cops were interviewed about the safest lane to travel in said that the left most lane was the safest and the right most lane the most dangerous (merging traffic).

Regardless of where he was travelling, this dude had no right to run up on him like a kamakazi looking for a kill. Last time I checked, that was against the law too.

And what is your idea of slower? Yes I am very aware of moving to the right if I am running slower than the speed limit, but I was not I was running the speed limit posted, when he passed me he was running 80mph as per my speedometer. Now to also add to this there are 2 bridges coming into town, in the right lane coming across the bridges the road and the bridge do not meet up quite right and is rather rough, the left lane is much better and not near as rough, that is the reason for me being in the left lane and staying in the left lane everyone who rides here in town or out in this area are aware of this.

This guy was on me in less than 1/4 mile and before the bridges, and out and around me before I got to the first bridge. The point here is this guys attitude, and his I did not know it was you, if he would have known that it was me he would have not been a butthead? or what.

Now on another note, it is a habit I have to break, Emergency Vehicles run the left lane so I spend a ton of time in that lane for work and it becomes habit.

Once again this is an attitude towards a person on a bike

I'm not sure of this because what you write still leaves a question but it's a commonunderstanding (and also nothing more than a courtesy) that slower traffic stays to the right and if you're bitching because some guy was riding your *** and you were in one of the left lanes the problem is yours and not his.
Ditto.
