If I am looking for a local rider/bar hopper and want the old school potato potato potato sound, that you can't get today, what should I be looking for?
I ride solo if that helps, and I don't want to duplicate my RoadKing.
You know, like the old big blocks that almost sound like they are going to stall
Thanks for your insight
That Harley "potato potato" sound was defined by the Panhead. Just search YouTube and you'll find plenty of examples
Here is one.
The next closest sound is the Shovelhead. The Shovelhead took that sound, and seems to have more of a "big block" sound to it. I actually think it sounds more like "giddy-up ...giddy-up...giddy giddy up...." than "potato potato (same for Pans).

I am so gonna have to record mine someday , with the inches & high compression it'll give you a hard-on .
Bet it would! Sequoia sized!
LOL at the guys with twinkies saying they sound similar.. The sound clips are just proof they don't!
Shovels sound different at highways speeds too...it's a great sound, very "big block" clap clap clap sounding. No twinkie can get close that cadence from the pipes either.
