I guess there's a big rally going on in Southeastern Wisconsin over the labor day weekend. The local dealer is part of it and they were full. Two music stages, BBQ, and plenty of booths selling: t-shirts, barbecue sets, shower curtains, etc.
I was there to get some parts and had to take my car because my motorcycle was up on a jack. Had to park a block and a half away and walk in light rain to get to the dealer. The band was butchering Dolly Parton's "Jolene." Some lady almost tipped over on her Heritage Classic. A guy named "Butch" almost knocked me over because he was talking to his wife and not looking where he was going. I know his name was "Butch" because he had a patch on his vest that said so. Or maybe he borrowed the vest from Butch and his name is actually "Kyle." I don't want to make any unfair assumptions.
I got my parts very quickly because no one was there to buy parts. They did have a Freewheeler on the floor though and that thing is pretty cool. The lady that almost tipped over her Heritage should have taken a look at it. But she was busy test-sitting a Street Glide.
Headed back to the car and there was a Nissan Pathfinder parked in front of me with two guys unloading their motorcycles from the attached trailer. They weren't wearing vests so I don't know what their names were.
It looked like everyone was having fun. Kinda made me mad that my motorcycle was up on a jack. Next time.
Sounds like a good time. Why didn't you stay longer? Also, my local HD has a BBQ every Saturday. I'm not sure if that's their own thing or if a lot/all Harleys do it? But BBQ, music, and good people is always a recipe for a good time.
Our local dealership does a BBQ every Saturday ; free burgers and hot dogs. It's a nice gesture on their part. For the 2015 new model intro they had a pizza party and gave out about $2000 in gift certificates. I hot a $50 certificate (which took about seven seconds to spend). All good.
SE Wisconsin dealers have been doing rallies on Labor Day weekend for a few years now. They got the idea from Harley's every-fifth year rallies. Sounds like maybe you were at Wisconsin Harley. They really got into the 110th rally under new ownership and their first full-time Marketing person, and they do a helluva job.....right up there with some of the supposedly "bigger" dealers that have been doing it longer.
Put a hundred or so miles on yesterday and again today hitting the 5 dealers and dodging the rain. Just got home from another fun day at the rallies. Tomorrow is all sun and low 80's so we'll hit the road for more good music and fun.
