I have wanted to try a driver's back rest for some time but didn't want to throw alot of money at it if I didn't like it. I found an company on ebay for driver's back rest with associated bracket shipped for $69.00. I ordered and installed it.
The company is Grasshopper LTD and it looks like they only make a few things for bikes.
The bracket is straight forward to install using already there finder nuts. One can slide the bracket forward and backward about an inch and a half which of course places the back rest for or aft.
Seems heavy duty enough. The material is some type of faux leather. The color is a little darker than my seat but the seat has been exposed to alot of weather.
If there is a draw back the rest can be removed by just lifting it from the bracket. If one is worried about theft you would have to drill and tap a bolt or set screw but that would be easy enough to do and I might.
Anyway, seems like a decent product. I have no considerable miles on using it. Just passing along the info......
A backrest is anything but a waste of money. I had been riding with one for only a couple of months, but for couple thousand of miles. One day I took it off to go for a day ride, but something told me stick it in your saddlebag incase you want it back on. Well needless to say, it was back on the back after I drove the five minutes to the gas station to fill up before leaving for the day ride.
