Okay, I did something really dumb. I took my bike out for a quick ride yesterday - it got into the high 20s and was sunny. So I took it off the battery tender, tightened the screw on the fender down and backed it out of the garage to let it warm up. So then I went for a ride. Afterwards, I went to put the battery tender back on, and the seat won't budge! I had forgotten to tighten the two screws on the side of the seat before the ride. So WTF? Did somehow the plastic underneath the seat melt and get stuck to something? Did it just get jammed in there? I have tried a pry bar, I've tried pounding on it with a rubber mallet in all directions. Nothing.
Hmmm, I'm still trying to figure out why you took your seat off. Don't you have the pigtail connector that hangs down under seat? Btw, my 2002 Fatboy only has one Allen screw holding the seat on the bike. There's a tongue on the front of the seat that tucks under console.
No, I don't have the pig tail on my softail. Very easy to take the seat on and off - until now.
Strange, it looks like a similar seat, I would think the connection would be the same. But I have three flat head screw bolts. One on the fender, and one on each side. Mine has a tongue on the front as well. But I can't move the seat to get the tongue loose.
Well, the only advice I can give is to carefully look and touch around the edge of the seat looking for a screw or bolt that you forgot to remove. The seat should just lift up and out if all screws are removed. Good luck!
Thanks, but I've removed the seat dozens of times in the past. I know it should just lift up - but its not. Thanks for tying to help, but I wouldn't be on here asking the question if it were as simple as that.
Anyone else? I let the bike warm up again, and I think I smelled plastic burning. But it was in the garage so it could have just been the exhaust. I'm thinking some how the seat pan got melted and stuck to something. But warming it back up wasn't enough to re-melt it and free it.
If nobody else has any ideas, I guess I will just have to start removing parts so I can see what is going on in there. But often the first step in any repair job is to remove the seat.

Sorry I couldn't help, but you might want to at least get a pigtail for your tender. You wouldn't have this problem if you had one. BTW, a picture of your seat would help, preferably a close-up. One more thing, I sense a little a huffyness in your reply.....I'm just trying to help. Keep up the attitude and I doubt anyone else will pitch in. JMO
Huffiness?
Sorry, didn't mean it. Just wanted to make it clear that your response didn't solve my problem so someone else might pitch in if they had any ideas.
Take pics tomorrow when it's light enough. Somebody here will help you figure this out. Gotta say...your the first one I've heard to have this problem. I'm sure it's something simple.
I still don't get it. Went out to take pictures today, but took one last shot at busting it loose. Suddenly it popped loose and came off. Thanks for your help. It was something simple - I just don't know what.
