Here is my .02 Your Harley, along with everyone else stock Harley is inherently lean from the factory for EPA and emissions stuff. So, a first upgrade, FOR ME (remember this is just my free .02 worth) would be to get a power commander, PV or FP to richen up that overly lean mixture. So throwing on a replacement K&N filter, assuming they breathe better and flow more air, you are making the bike a bit leaner. Just food for thought.

Adding a programmer will be beneficial now and in the future, for other mods.
I've done some looking on eBay Canada and Kijiji (http://www.kijiji.ca/), and have, indeed found PCiiis going for CDN$100. But they're all units that have been on H-D touring models, and are tagged as such.
Would these work on my Iron, or should I be looking for something Iron-specific?

Alan, I think since your bike is a 15, there is only a power commander 5 available for yours, I don't think you'll find a 3. You can double check though.
Absolutely right! I just looked at the Power Commander site, and see that the 5 is the model for the 2015 883. Not a problem, as I saw a couple of 5s on offer.
I agree with getting a tuner first and correcting the A/F mixture. A PCV will do the trick nicely, and definitely stay away from the dealer downloads. Second, I don't know what price you are seeing for K&N air filters but they usually run in the $50-$90 range depending on the bike. For a bit more you can get a complete intake (which will include a K&N or alike filter. This will open up the intake and allow the bike to breathe without the existing boxed in filter and poor flowing back plate. Both S&S and Arlen Ness make inexpensive (sub $150) intakes that you can run under your existing cover if so desired. Since you said you will be adding an exhaust system in the future you will have 2 of the 3 pieces to get your bike to stage 1 done already. That is the way I would do it and advise my customers to do it if they are taking the step-by-step approach...Tuner, THEN intake or exhaust, one before the other doesn't matter if you have the tuner...
