Find an angle of the shift leverthat works best for you. Once you use it more slamming it won't be as usual as now. Heim joint shift rods seem to make it better in my opinion

Do you recommend using the heel instead of the toe?

I've done just that for well over 200k miles on different Harleys. If you really watch and pay attention you'll see you aren't really "stomping" on the heel shift as much as it looks like. I agree it does look like it but it really is just a lite but positive touch.

Yea true u got a point there man thank for your I'mput. I try shifting with the toe but since I have a flat platform it's harder for me to lift with the toe so I find it easier shifting with my heel

There is no recommendation; it's all personal preference. After a couple of days, I couldn't wait to take my heel shifter off. I never used it and it was just in the way of foot position options on the floorboard. Don't miss it at all.

We set our heel shifters as low as possible to make the shift without it interfering with the floorboard. Then all you need to do is slide you foot back and a gentle tap with your heel is all you need...
