So I bought a Viking Bags leather hard shell trunk case. Love it! Absolutely worth the money. However, they clearly didn't put much thought into the mounting part of this equation. The D rings are mounted horizontally, and if you use straps to mount to the luggage rack as suggested, they certainly won't last very long. I need it to be more secure to the luggage rack. I called them, and they have no mounting hardware for it. I looked online, briefly, and can't find much. I'm thinking I may just buy some of those u shaped bolts with threads on both ends, drill holes through the bottom of the case, and bolt it on to my luggage rack.

Anyone have any better thoughts or found any hardware made for this?

 

I agree, I would look for a small mounting plate that is a flat piece of metal with bolts attached to it and use something like that. It will be easier to seal out the elements.

 

Should have updated. I ended up using 1 1/2 inch pipe clamps. Works like a charm!!
