battery tender

I'm new to motorcycle ownership and just got a bike (street bob) in July and have been told by friends with bikes that I need a battery tender. Anyone have any suggestions on what type of battery tender I should get and what I should be looking for?

IMHO, it certainly doesn't hurt, but if you ride every week or two...you shouldn't need one. Now if you ride less than that...the junior above is perfect. I have used that model for years. Or BatteryMinders.

GREAT. Thank you guys. I've been looking at ones very similar to that. I had been riding at least once a week, but living in NorCal, it's starting to get cold (40's) and I haven't got the proper clothing yet to ride in the cold weather. Although I miss being on the bike and will probably just bundle up in long underwear and go for a short ride.

I ride quite a bit ... and have had my 2007 SG on a tender from day one, and just replaced my ORIGINAL battery ... it lasted 7 and a half years on a tender ... you decide. Is it worth it???
