Default clutch adjustment problem

Just spent one long frustrating afternoon trying to adjust the clutch on my 2006 ultra. This winter I had pulled the primary and inner primary to swap out a leaking shifter shaft seal. Everything went smooth till I fired up the bike today and attempted to go for a ride. I couldn't shift into third gear. WTF! Back to the garage for clutch adjustment. Go for another ride, still can't get the damn thing to shift out of second. Back to the garage for another go around with the clutch pack adjusting rod. Still no dice. now I'm starting to panic, thinking I screwed up the reassembly of the primary and clutch components. As luck would have it I noticed the retaining ring that holds the plate where the adjusting rod is, was not snapped in all the way. Popped that sucker back in and now it shifts like a champ. Hope this post helps someone prevent a lot of aggravation.
