Got home with the parts to insall rearfootboards on my 2016flstc. My problem is i cant seem to figure out these saddlebagbracket relocation things. Nothing seems to lineup right at all. Anybody ever insall these things? They look like they are just too long and i need a spacer or something. If all else fails its going for service Tuesday and ill just let them figure it out. Guess i better buy a service manual too! The directions they provide at the very least s#%k!
I did this recently and found the same issue. After mounting the footboard mounts (50549-06), the saddlebag brackets mount inside the frame rather than sandwiched between the frame and foot peg mount (aka outside the frame). The saddlebag bracket relocation kit (90238-00) that is 'required' is then too far out, while using the stock brackets (now mounted on the inside of the frame) are too far in. Each bracket ends up being 3/4" - 1" off whichever way. I can see why they suggest/require the relocation brackets, but they are too much offset.
I ended up using the relocation kit brackets and (forcibly) pulling the saddlebag frame/mount outward to line up. Kinda want to make some properly offset brackets...
