Default Changing out Bars

Have a 2012 FLSTC and had the wild one chubby w0572 14 inch apes installed with all new steel braided cables. Great job by local dealership and very happy until I rode my buddies 2008 Road King with the RK II W0518 beach bar style bars. Considering switching and thinking on taking on the switch myself. Pretty handy but NEVER switched out bars and my concern is the replacement of cables. Looks like I'd need to re-purchase new cables AGAIN. Does anyone know if stock cables (steel braided) would be the right sizes needed. 1. you think I can take on the job and 2. any idea on how to measure to know what are the right cable sizes? Also, thought on Apes vs. Beach bars for this bike? I am sure the beach bars on the Road King vs FLSTC may slightly feel different on each bike but, will it be a drastic difference. Hate to AGAIN spend the money/time only to find out I should have left things alone. THOUGHTS???
