Default Replacing windshield and mounting tape

I just got a new windshield from Clearview and am pleased with the product. However I am suppose to reuse the existing brackets and I realize that they use a double sided tape to secure things. Can I use any doublesided tape? Such as 3M doublesided tape made for auto use? Or is it necessary to order something from Harley?

I've done that in the distant past. The tape is out of sight, although I would use a clear one. The genuine article from your local dealer only costs a few dollars, it won't break the bank!

I got a replacement windshield for the Harley dealer. I didn't open the box until Sunday when I noticed that someone failed to include one of the (2) 58416-77A, Tape for horizontal braces. Paying top dollar doesn't always get you top quality. Guess I'll be heading over to my local hardware store to remedy the situation.
