My o-rings always looked good.
Reused a number of times.
Then after doing an oil change with that "good looking" o-ring, I developed a slight leak.
Drips under the bike when parked.
I changed the o-ring and the drips stopped!
Now I change the o-rings anyway.
That "bad" o-ring still looked good when I removed it but it was still a bother to replace.
Waited until bike was cold. (Sat overnight.)
With new o-ring ready to go in, I did a quick replacement when I removed the plug.
Clean pan underneath to catch the small amount of oil.
The just added that small amount of oil when I was done.
As mentioned, get the 3 drain plug o-rings and replace them, they are cheap. We also use a wrap of teflon tape on the drain plug threads to help seal and prevent any galling. Steel plugs like to cross-thread in soft aluminum!
$450.00 is a lot. Save your receipts, if you have any warranty issues in the future you can show that the maintenance was done. Plus having records helps at selling or trade in time.

Several times I've needed to remove the drain plug on a car/truck oil pan. You can remove the fill cap and put the end of a shop vac hose over the hole. The vacuum will prevent the oil from coming out the drain. There's been a couple of times that the engine was over-filled and I used this method to control a partial drain to reduce the level. Had a second set of hands move the hose end off the hole slightly to get some draining started. Once I had drained off enough the hose end went back on the hole until I got the plug back in.
I haven't had to use this on a motorcycle but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
