Default Dremel Question

I needed to use a rotary tool recently, and discovered that my old Craftsman one seems to have vanished into the same void as mis-matched socks and guitar picks...

I'm pretty much narrowed down to a Dremel brand tool, but am undecided about corded versus cordless...

Any input or experiences? I'm focused on functionality/durability/flexibility much more so than cost (I've always found that it's ultimately less expensive to get exactly what I want the first time).

Your $.02 is appreciated!

Cordless is great when you are more concerned with portability. But in my use, it's typically near a power outlet. And as such I'd rather not be bothered with the trade offs of portability: extra cost, extra weight, long term battery reliability, not having a charge when I need it.

I agree, but if I only had one, it would be with a cord. I can't imagine not having on in my tool collection. Have had one since the mid 70s.

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards the corded version, thinking that it's probably more durable overall and it really isn't a tool I would use anywhere other than in my garage...

Sometimes it's just nice to hear someone else's opinion.

I've got both and the corded version is more durable and stronger, cordless has it's uses but just doesn't seem to have any umph behind it so it's a bit limited.

the cordless for convenience, but the battery will die before you're finished doing whatever it is you're doing. Plus the battery will eventually need replacing. If you use it or not. Go with the corded for longevity.

Had a cordless for years. It worked well, but every damn time I needed it I had to charge it. I now have a corded one. Works when I need it and more powerful.

Thanks again, everyone. I went with a new Dremel 4000 (corded).
