General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I posted this on the Softail threads and not much help. Thinking here makes more sense.
I picked up a custom softail springer as a project bike. The previous owner remounted the front fender because he didn't like it mounted higher up and crashed the bike when trying to stop and the fender hit the wheel. You can see in the picture that the springer is out of wack. I've got that pretty much under control.
I'm trying to identify what I have. The engine is an S&S EVO. Not sure what size but my guess is 88 CI. PO told me 90 CI but there is not such engine.
I'm trying to figure out what tranny is in the bike. I'm pretty sure it's a 5 speed but not sure of manufacture. I've provided a picture of the numbers I found on it.
The numbers are backwards just like the picture.
What I'm trying to figure out is it Harley or something else so I can service it.
That's what I was thinking. I'm not very familiar with Harley's an particularly aftermarket stuff. I was hoping the backwards numbers would be a give away as to what it is because it seemed odd to me.
Looks like ametric bike paint job lol hard to sell probably. i would repaint it before i got on it thats an embarrassing paint job haha. And I have thousands of front fender- less hrs on a bike with no spray in my face
Contact S&S about your engine, the engine number should tell them all they need to know to identify what model it is. They can also supply an engine-specific manual, if you want one. That number on the trans is definitely not H-D IMHO - each character has been done by hand, not on a machine. The chrome outer covers may be H-D. Neat looking bike!
