I just purchased my first Harley. 2017 Road King Special. It did not come with a windsheild so I ordered the wind splitter and docking hardware kit. I had the dealer install the windsheild even though it seemed easy. But when I looked at it there is nothing retaining the windsheild to the top docking bushings. It sits in there tight. I asked about it and the tech said "they use to have them but I guess they don't anymore. The wind pushes it back so the only way it could come off is if you are going hella fast in reverse". That was word for word. I watched several vids and they all had some retaining spring clips. But those are all old bikes.
Does anyone know if it actually just sits on the bike or should I buy some clips. I paid $500 US for the windsheild. I really don't want it to come off on the highway
I quite like my 'stuff' to remain mine! I don't have an RK, but do have a factory qd windshield on my Sporty, for which I bought a security kit, to lock it on. It isn't very robust, but adds a layer of peace of mind. I doubt if your Windsplitter is at risk from the elements, but may be to the light-fingered?!
