Hi all,
my last buy is FXDWG3 2002 CVO with unknown history. Due to a weather here I only have 2 short rides on her so far. My first riding impressions: this is the fastest Harley I have ever ride on, the real rocket. I can close speedometer easily, she pulls like crazy on each gear. Nothing to compare with, just amazing ride. And I have very, very many miles on different Harleys. I've been told it must have stage 3 kit fitted. What I can see is 2in1 exhaust system with removable discs, highflow air filter and compression realizes. No idea what is in the engine. My question is: what MoCo dealers could sell back in 2002 as stage 3 kit? What do I possibly have in my engine? Thanks. You all have great and safe 2018th riding season!
Without tearing it down, you'll never really know. Sounds like a SuperTrapp pipe (one of the best), compression releases is a good sign. I would do a compression test just to see where its at. Won't tell you anything except your ccp but someday if you pull the cam and can identify it you should be able to determine your static comp. A bore scope could tell you about piston top and maybe an idea on the valves or combustion chamber work, if you can tell the difference between stock and worked chambers... Did the PO tell you what cubic inch it is? I believe they were 88" factory.Pics?

+1 on you'll never really know. Best guess would be 95" big bore, cams, and some head work. If upgrades were done by a dealer then you can ask him to run the VIN and look up what was done.
Thanks for your suggestions. I was wondering what is lifespan of engines with those mods instaled comparing to stock? Hope is not like 20, 30 k miles. Luckilly only 6200 miles on my bike. Will try to post pics when I find out how to do this.
Thanks. No I don't have more pics. Now it sits in corner of my garage waiting for spring to come. We got cold and windy time here. I can't wait to start riding the beast, This bike is all about performance and power. Will show you more pics in CVO section when weather allows me to take it out of garage.
