Ok, we all know the EITMS shuts off the rear fuel injector (in "parade" mode if you will). Ok. No big deal. Smart thing to do.
With the rear fuel injector off, then the spark/fuel explosion will not happen so there is no HEAT generated in the rear cylinder. Smart.
I am figuring most all of us KNOW THAT. GREAT!
What I just learned and did NOT know was, while the rear cylinder is in EITMS mode (enabled), it acts as an AIR PUMP that COOLS the engine. COOLS that rear engine.........SMART aye? <-- I did not know that.
Fascinating. Who would have figured that an internal combustion engine, which is basically an air pump, could be used as an air pump? LOL!! Good info to keep in the back of your brain.
yep, way back in the 1960's, jc whitney used to sell emergency tire inflater which went into a spark plug hole also use-able for tractors in the fields. i had one and it worked well but it got extremely hot.
killing cylinders also goes way back. it used to be mechanical but the newer systems uses hydraulics with special lifters. the dogalac system can switch cyls in and out and if you loose your coolant, can go into limp mode and switch cyls out to cool the engine and amazingly for a good while, when one rises, drops out and another takes it place. the only bad thing i see is you are compressing air which does add resistance and heat unlike the older mechanical ones which just hung a valve open for free-wheeling.

That system was used on the northstar V8 in the Cadillac STS Seville.
I activated my EITMS system and I don't like the way the bike idles when it engages which is pretty much everytime I stop and it's not even that hot up here.
Oh...back to the Eitms. They shut off the rear cylinder for rider comfort. I wonder what would happen if they alternated shutting off the cylinders?
Nah.........I figger that they shut off the rear cylinder so the pillion rider has a cooler ride. LOLOLOLOL!! MAN!!! I SO FUNI!!!!! Get it? Shut off the rear cylinder. Pillion rider....... awe never mind!
the inflator did not inject fuel mix into the tire, it worked via flow safety valves.
the dogalac's has some great firsts! slipper pistons, 8/6/4 (timed off the distributor) and the newer sys. if you ever work on one, you will need a laptop the hand held analyzer it has out grown.
they were pretty quick for barge like attributes and knock down some good mile-age. the bad thing, night mare to work on as there is very little space, some times easier to remove front end, hated the cosworth engines!!! they are not a free wheeler either, jump a belt = new engine!!!
