Just purchased a 2019 Soft Tail Street Bob. Been having some issues with the Jiffy Stand. Very difficult to get the bike to lean on rough concrete or asphalt . Bike barely leans to the left. The stand seem to get hung up. On the smooth garage floor it leans perfect, however, one evening heard a crash In the garage and the bike had fallen over. No real damage but very disturbing. I just had my 1000 mile service and the dealer checked it. Thought all was fine. Not trying to be difficult just does not seem normal. Any ideas? Thanks.
Have noticed a similar issue with my new 2018 Softail Heritage Classic (FLHCS). It seems to be nearly upright when I first put the jiffy stand down, then it leans. I just take a bit extra care when parking and have had no real problems (yet). The lean when fully engaged seems correct.
Check the rear suspension sag with the bike supporting it's own weight (just the bike, not with you on it). It's possible that the shock is on it's lowest setting and the weight of the bike is essentially lowering it. That would make the bike sit more upright on the jiffy stand. Barring that, it's usually a good practice to turn the front wheel full lock left left when parking and be mindful of slopes.
They all do that, but they have a "stage kit" for it.
No stage , no lean, Falls over HD hs to fix dents on another side. Guaranteed comebacks
stage 1, and 3, mostly just looks.
Stage 3 a bigger chromier stand. UGH lalala!
4, extra hvy duty return spring so you don't have to replace the stock one every year to stop the rattle
Stage 5 and 6 -Now we are getting somewhere! A short and shorter one so as to make your bike looks like its racing into the turns !!.
DO yourself a favor cut iff the required amount at bottom of stand, zip tie a lid to it say from a cat food can, call it kool and the new rage!
Pretty soon you will be selling chrome plated ones to all your neighbors .
Jessie James will be jealous!
It just takes a lot of practice with the jiffy stand make sure you kick it out all the way and it locks in the notch, its very hard for the bike to fall over if its locked properly. Just getting comfortable with mine after two years
As I lean my bike over onto the stand I roll it back slightly as the full weight settles on the stand. That way I'm sure the locking tab slides into the slot every time.
