Default Older Heated Gear Wiring?

I just got a Harley Davidson Riding Suit, no part number but must be pretty old it says "Made in USA". Anyway the core of the jacket has three SAE connectors and I'm trying to figure out how to hook it all up without burning something up. Does this type need a controller? Does it just need a switch to turn on and off? The glove connections have coax connectors like the new stuff. Any help appreciated. Picture of connections below.

I've got a simple on off switch with SAE connectors for that.

I have a vest only, so I put in a 7.5 amp fuze in the battery tender pigtail and connect it up there.

If you have more parts, that might nit be a big enough fuze, but you can put more than one pigtail on your battery.

You can also get a thermostat and adaptors to convert it to round Gerbing style.

Just remember to install the smaller fuze you can get by with and probably never larger than 10 amps.

Thanks for the info. Here are some questions I still have:

-Of the three SAE connectors coming from the "core" section of the jacket, which is the main power supply?
-Is the Positive "+" going to be non-shielded portion of the connector coming out of the jacket? (need to know this when converting to a coax)
-Any idea which of the remaining two SAE connectors are for pants and who knows what else?

Thanks

I'm working from memory here, but if you look at your bikes pigtail, you will see that the positive is indeed covered with insulation and the negative is out in the open.

So on your heated clothing, the opposite must be true. The input from the power source would have the positive as the male part of the plug.

Your photo shows two cables connected, I'm thinking that if all three of these SAE connectors were hanging free, only one would have the correct polarity to connect to your bike's pigtail. The other two, probably then, would be for connecting other garments like the pants and gloves. It looks to me like two of the garments wires are connected to each other and shouldn't be under normal use.

I found a photo of a similar garment that has color coded bands on the wires. The red one here would be "hot".

Yes, two are connected I don't think should be. I had found that picture you have before, that jacket is running a "Heat Troller" in that pocket and the red is to the power source. On mine, the center SAE connector was freed up when I got it, and has a little be of insulation at the base, so I'm thinking it is the power lead and would have the positive exposed. But gathering all my information before I "fire it up". Everybody's help is appreciated. Thanks
