Default 2014 breakout

I have a 2014 breakout 103 with a stage 3 kit. I am going to be replacing the stator and the voltage regulator. I’m looking for advice on anything else I might need to examine or replace while I have the primary cover off. My mechanic skills are limited but I’m trying to learn.

Why are you changing stator and VR? If you have the primary cover off I would look at the tensioner shoe as well, ensure that you have a service manual before you start as there is a tightening pattern for the primary cover and torque specs for each of the bolts, I cannot remember if this is the year model that requires the inner primary to be removed to replace the stator. Check the rotor as well for loose/damaged magnets, they will kill a new stator. This one will have the auto adjusting chain tensioner. You will need to ensure that you have all of the gaskets and hardware consumables that you will need before you begin.

I’m changing the stator because my battery is not getting charged properly while the bike is running resulting in it stalling at idle or just plain not starting at all. I’ve gone thru 3 batteries in 2 years. I still have the last 2 which turns out they are fine. I keep one on a charger in my garage at all times now

OK, have you done any troubleshooting to determine if either one is going bad? Follow the charging system sticky in the electrical section or best yet get a service manual if you dont already have one as well as the electrical diagnostics manual.
