Hi all,
I just installed a tire shredder kit with the 58mm throttle body, I modified my harley SE air cleaner to fit the new bigger throttle body, my 2 breather bolts are always getting loose and need to tighten them after every ride, any thoughts why this is happening and what is the solution.
Wait, what? Traditionally speaking a new (bigger) throttle body requires a new (bigger) air cleaner. What exactly did you do to "modify" your existing air cleaner?
On top of that, how the hell do you know that your breather bolts are coming loose? If your air cleaner's backing plate has integrated stand-off's you won't be able to see your breather bolts and if they came loose they would end up being sucked into the throttle body.
I guess everything I just said really doesn't matter because at the end of the day we are simply addressing a male-threaded bolt coming loose from a female thread. The only solution I have is double-checking factory torque specs and using the appropriate loc-tite. On top of that, you need to let the loc-tite cure (24 hours or so in a moderate climate). Don't just fasten the bolts and then fire the bike up and ride away immediately.
"see your breather bolts and if they came loose they would end up being sucked into the throttle body."
Wow! You are going to have to explain how that could possible happen!

LMFAO! +1
Did you clean the oil residue off the threads before applying loctite? The bolts and the heads?
sometimes a picture says 1000 words. a little spritz of carb cleaner will remove oil and the lock-tite should grab. one thing to remember is that lock-tite is not a filler so threading should be in good shape. i cannot see the need for it to begin with.
perhaps a mod can be made to change up the whole system.

i agree with the above but should you require a thread filler I suggest VC-3
