Default Riser

I just bought my first Harley, a 2010 Nighster.
it came with small apes, I have turned down(cause I have a hight deficiency), but still not finding comfortable.
I thought a riser would help, but I’m not sure how you determine what size to purchase.

thank you

I'm confused. If you need the bars to be lower then shorter bars are in order. A riser will raise the bars you have. That's why they're called risers.

Good point, but I saw risers that angled back, I thought that might help.
Your point about lower bars makes sense.
I’ll look into that.

Fortunately or unfortunately, the options are endless. I used to run Nightster bars with 2" risers on my Dyna. I got the bars from a dealer as take offs and were half price. Risers are not that costly. The thing is, everybody is built differently.
There is a method to determine where the best placement for your hands are. You'll need a helper and a tape measure for this. Sit upright on the bike. Close your eyes and put your hands in the most natural or comfortable position. Have your helper measure how far from the top triple tree your hands are (pullback) and how far above the horizontal line from the top tree (height). Also the width between the hands. These are the 3 measurements that the bars use.
It may be a trial and error thing, some riders go through several changes.

Thanks, that is great info.
I’ll give it a try
I have to bring it in this week, to get certified, so I’ll get some numbers and see what the shop has available, that I can try.
Thanks again
