Default Maintenance Tip

I enjoy the helpful maintenance tips that get posted here so I thought I would post one that I've been using for a while. Feel free to ignore if it's not helpful. I have an old measuring cup in the garage that I use for fluid changes but it's a pain to clean lubricants out of it. Recently I noticed that we had a bunch of clear SOLO cups (clear isn't necessary but it's a little easier to work with). Using a kitchen measuring cup, I just pre-measure out whatever volume I need with water first in the disposable cup, mark the level with a Sharpie, empty, and dry the cup out. Here's some typical examples: My 103 c.i. engine consistently takes 3 full quarts plus another 4 oz. of oil. I mark the 4 oz. level on the disposable cup and use that to measure and add after putting in the 3 full quarts. If I'm changing my primary fluid (38 oz.), I'll make a 6 oz. mark since a full quart plus the 6 will give the resulting 38. Finally, for the transmission I'll also use a 4 oz. mark to remove that much from the bottle and put the resulting 28 oz. into the tranny. Once complete, I just trash the cups. Hope that helps someone..
