Default How do you remove Harley Defiance grips?

I read on HD's webpage for the defiance grips that they can be removed, but I cant find instructions anywhere. Does anyone know how to remove these? It looks like theres a cap on the end of the grip but it doesn't want to budge

Are you trying to take the grips off of the bike? Simply remove the fasteners from the clamshell, open the clamshell, and slide the grips off.

that worked for the throttle side but the clutch side grip isn't sliding off

Is it glued on with grip adhesive?

Do you see brownish goop where the bar meets the inside of the grip? If you took it apart the same way as the throttle side something is holding it. I just find it odd they wouldn't use grip glue on the throttle tube as well.

Left side is a snug fit, right side is a loose fit. Once the clamshell halves are apart, usually a twisting/pulling motion does the trick.

All my dirt bike had rubber grips..... usually used the white bandage tape and some carb cleaner and slid then in place. Cut them off with razor blade. My Harleys, I just took the clam shell off the controls and pulled grips off. You might try slipping a small screwdriver into the end of the grip and see if you can get some movement. I use Avon grips on mine and have not had any issues. If previous owner used an adhesive, you may have to cut the grip off.
Let us know how this came out.

Even without adhesive the clutch side can be somewhat difficult to remove if you're trying to pull it straight off. Try a twisting motion starting at the inboard side and working your way out. If that doesn't work, insert a small screwdriver between the grip and bars from the inboard side and spray some WD-40 in the gap alongside the screwdriver. Let it soak for awhile, and continue the twisting motion. If reinstalling, clean all traces of WD-40 beforehand.

My new FXLRS had glue on the clutch side. Had to cut it off. The throttle side just undid the clamshell and it slid right off
