Installing new oil lines. Finding it difficult to source single barb adapters but finding loads of the multiple barb push on type.
Will my Oetiker clamps work to seal these multiple barb fittings?
Also, there are the single barb (really a AN barb) type that are easily found. Will these make a good seal with my clamps? The AN barb seems smallish.
Anyone have a source for the good old fittings?
Thanks

Personally, I prefer single barb. For one they are easy to disassemble. Many times, the only way to get them a part cut off the hose then split what's hanging on the barb. Single one work better IMO because the band goes on the smooth portion and any pressure, it if moves, pushes the hose out until the clamp supports the hose against the barb. Single barbs let you pull the hose off after cutting the band clamp. You can get away from trimming less of the hose and refit if the hose isn't in too bad of shape.
I typically make my own single barbs out of 303 / 316 stainless but a little searching on Summit racing and you can find a bunch there. If you have a specific size in mind, HD has various ones also. The local Marshall's has a good selection of brass ones. Multiple barb you can get pretty much at any hardware store, Home Depot, possibly Lowes.
Max, you must be a heck of a machinist to fabricate your own!
Another question though; these adapters will be at the top of the oil pump and at the oil filter mount, leading out to the oil cooler. Both aluminum. Theyre 1/8NPT is there consideration to using softer material like brass to interfere easier with the aluminum female threads?

Thanks for the advice.
Sounds like you are talking about an EVO motor. I have an evo bobber and the fittings on it are brass. No issues. The filter fittings are 1/4 pipe. The bike has an SnS motor and the fittings on the pump are 1/8 inch pipe brass. While I've never rally thought about checking hardness this link says brass is harder then aluminum. I've always assumed so because aluminum seems to dent a little easier.
hummmmm?????
well, there is brass and there is brass.
mil spec: mil-std-889c
copper is even worst, seems stainless is the way to go.
what is in your china stuff???? probably the same as china dog food for the us, poison!
usually in plumbing, there is an isolator like a non metal ring.
Probably right. I source hardware through McMaster, usually Taiwan stuff, and their SS fittings, street elbows and barb adapters are like $40/ea. Not going to happen.
Ill stick with the brass. As long as the darn thing doesnt leak Im happy.
