The whole point is to have THAT fairing on the bike because it used to be on his dad's bike. I swear it's like people don't even bother to read a damn post before they try to **** all over someone's dream.
Slow the roll a bit son, nobody is kicking sand here. That's what it's all about to you go for it. I can respect the memories bit done my share to make some happen for close friends, rarely went how they imagined in the end but it got done how they wanted. That's where my contribution came from.
Just do it and come back when you have what you want the way you want and skip the help you aren't liking out of here.
Not saying it’s not doable, it’s doable. In my opinion the faring from a Electra Glide is a bit too wide for a Dyna chassis. That is just my opinion. Go ahead and take the outer shell and temp fab a mount to it and back away and then look n decide if you want to continue. Almost any fab can let you mount it. Are you gonna leave the gauges to the faring or just leave the inner faring off and only use the outer part. The mounts are all on the inner part iirc. The outer part mounts to the inner. This is how it is on my 07 flhtc. Older models are similar in mounting ibelieve.
It’s up to you. As I said it seems like a daunting task. Good luck and keep us posted. Winters are long up yonder. I grew up in NB
For those of us who don't know, would you care to explain why? What is it about the dyna front end that doesn't suit an Electra style fairing
it’s a Dyna platform, not a touring platform.
you can put a faring ona Dyna but a faring assembly for a touring platform is not designed for a Dyna. They make smaller farings for dynas and Softail platform, it’s just different.
Loom at the parts breakdown on the microfiche of a 07 Electra Glide, look at the mounts then look at a Dyna parts breakdown.
as I said it’s not impossible, just a task. I’ve seen many custom setups in my day , my son in law builds rat rods and custom cars. Cut n weld something to something. Doesn’t mean it was meant to be there.
I can understand sentimental value but sometimes it’s better just to hang it up.
