Hello everyone, I have a question, on my 92 fxr has the speedo on the dash, I am converting it to a handle bar mount with tachometer, now I know mine has the trip reset on the side and the other has it coming out the back. Now I want to change the mileage to match the original speedo. Is there away to change it with hooking up a motor and letting run 70,000 plus miles? I am not finding any info on the web on these mechanical speedometers. The reason I am relocating the speedometer is because I can not find a replacement speedometer dash. So I am moving it to run a fuel gauge, and have a tachometer as well. And my tank is the original center fill tank. So I ordered a new dash with the fuel gauge mount. Any help would be appreciated.
No way al alter the miles without disassembling the speedo. You could sent it to a speedo shop, but I suspect you will have a difficult time finding that that would change the mileage. And lots of guys I know of that work on motorcycle speedos won't work on later model ones, or those later than about 1984.

okay well I am in school for motorcycle mechanics but took the summer off. I get with my instructor and see what we can do. If I F it up I will just have to buy another one. But I do appreciate the reply and information.
