Wife's 06 jiffy stand was hanging down a bit, weak spring. Snaps back into place now. Changed the one on my 07 at the same time, just because. They were only like $10 each.

Thanks, mine is only 3 years old, but it flops around. I was wondering if a tighter spring might be available. I guess I could go to parts site to see if alternate p/n is available.

Not all springs are created equal, find a shorter one this is a common problem. The import crap used today are all over the spectrum in quality and consistency even from the dealer.

Look at the tab on the side stand that the spring hooks one. Bet it's bent.. It's typically really hard to bend the stand itself but I guess it's possible..
Maybe I didn't state this right A common issue when smacking the side stand due a bump on the ground is that the tab that the spring hooks on gets bent up. No much but enough that the sidestand can sag.. In this case it's pretty simple to bend it back out with a crescent wrench or vice grips. It will restore the tension on the spring and hold the stand up..

Btw, it is really hard to bend the side stand itself.
