They were not around in the 70s as I did not have one on my Sportster, the sales person gave me one for my 2006 Dyna that I bought new and when I bought my Trike, the sales person also gave me a bell. Guess it depends on the salesperson and the dealership.

Have a couple that friends have provided, guess it is just like gifting a get back whip to someone you respect or are a friend of.

Bike looks ok and rider likely walked away! That’s a plus 1 for the G bell in my books!

Depends on which side it's hanging on.

a face cord is 1/3 of cord of firewood. People here have stick/log up there bum, and no sense of humor.

I have seen a lot of bell threads, but never the question what to do with one that came with a bike you bought. If I bought it locally, I would contact the guy and see if he wanted it back. he may have forgotten it was on the bike. It may be something sentimental to him. An ahole would not understand helping someone.

I did my good dead to get into heaven reading this slow to you

These bell threads are interesting in how they upset the perpetually offended segment of our population which growing across demographics.

How about the other side? Bike was not rideable. We came back about 10 minutes after he crashed and the guy was out cold.. Paramedics hauled him off. Had to rescue him from the hospital after a few X rays.. While he was banged up some he didn't have any broken bones He ended up riding bitch back to the motel on a Dyna and flying home..

Wonder where his left saddle bag went.

From the weeds attached, and how well the bike looks, I think it is proof divine intervention.

See my post explaining why I cannot 'contact the guy' as you put it. The bike was part of an estate sale the dealer up north in Michigan City bought it from, I assume the previous owner has passed away.

The whole point of the thread was simply a humorous attempt to start a silly conversation as far as the imaginary 'etiquette' of gremlin bells. It's still winter for Christ's sake...

A few right off the bat took it WAY too seriously, why I have no idea. To them it was/is a stupid, pointless thread but they just had to comment anyway.

Yes, I was just reading my post slowly.

Leave it as ode to old owner, hang in garage for same, or toss.
