I bought a LED headlight from Sunpie for my 09 FLHP and it was the one the salesperson said I needed but the mounting ring wont fit inside the bucket so that the flange sits properly.
Ive tried everything I can think of to make it work with no luck. Before I return it I wanted to check if there was something Im missing.
in the pic it shows how its too wide to go inside the light bucket.

Reason: Add a pic
I did mine on a 2007. The video sure makes it look easy. But lot more screwing around figure out which way it goes, should I use this part from stock. No help other than it does take more thinking that I thought. Simply because I never did it before, and I sure it would be just as hard since it has been a few years.
The only way I can see to make it fit is to grind off about 5/16 inch on the flange where the yellow arrow is pointing in the pic above. That would come very close to the spring.
I'm still waiting to hear from Sunpie to see if they have a different version of the headlight for the FLHP.
Would this not simply be solved by opening the nacelle?
That is an interesting option that I was looking at yesterday. My concern is that it would be very involved to do that. I didn't explore it a lot but it looks like I would have to remove quite a bit in order to do that and then if I need to access the wiring in there in the future, I'd have to repeat it.
The nacelle wraps around the sides of the forks and then is under the tach.
I'll take another look, but thanks for that suggestion.
I have been back and forth with the company and sent them pics, but they don't seem to understand what the problem is. They keep insisting it should fit but I'm getting the impression that there is something different in the nacelle of a FLHP and other Road Kings.
Not sure if my situation is similar but I didn’t like the gap left by the included adapter so I modified my oem bucket to accept the Sunpie headlight. Involves cutting the back of metal bucket but it worked for me.
