Default Oldtimer with a newbie question FOB/security pin change

I recently bought a new to me 2018 FLHC Heritage Classic, never had a security system before on my old bike so this is new to me. This bike came with two FOB's. At the moment I have no idea what the PIN is, but I want to reprogram it to something easy like all "1's".

The owners manual shows me how to change the PIN but my question is....the bike will recognize the first FOB so if I change the PIN to all "1's" will the bike still "SEE" the 2nd FOB?

I'm thinking "yes" , i'm assuming it's not the FOB's that are having the PIN changed, it's the security system on the bike, It's just a manual override in case I lose my FOB or FOB battery dies. Just wanted to double check before I mess around with it.

Thanks, Jim

Yup you have it right. The pin is the override for the security system when you don’t have a fob or its battery is dead.

Don’t change the pin to all ones. That would be one of the first combinations a thief would use. I personally use the zip code for the town that I grew up in.

Everyone I have known with a new Harley the pin was all 1s. There's 2 in my garage right now. SIL is brain dead. I've told him on several occasions to change it on both his and her bike. SMH ..

Change it to all 1s except for the 1st or last number. That way you will have security but not have to push the buttons a bunch of times or remember the different numbers.

Also, make a phone contact for your Harley named "Heritage Classic" and put the code in place of the phone number, then you will always have it unless you forget your phone.

Yes, you're correct. Changing the PIN on the bike's security system won’t affect the FOBs—both will still work. The PIN is just a backup for manual entry if the FOBs aren’t available. Just follow the manual’s steps to set your new PIN (like all "1's"), and both FOBs will stay paired.

IIRC don't you need to know the current number to change to a new number? It's been a while, but I thought you either had to know the existing combo or dealer has to reprogram.

ETA or maybe it's just have a valid functioning fob present. Sorry for the confusion if my statement is incorrect.

Like others recommended, setting security PIN to all 1's is like using "password" for accessing your bank account. Think of something easy for you to remember like @ChromeJunkie stated. Another one "NOT" to use are the last 5-digits of VIN b/c this is how some dealers set the PIN.
