For anyone else considering this mod:

I got out to the shop this afternoon and did a test fit of the Condor Trailer-Only Chocks on the Harbor Freight Motorcycle Dolly.

The chock was a perfect fit into the dolly channel except for the chock pins. The pins stick out a little too far for the chock to drop all the way down into the channel but cutting down the pins, or replacing them with slightly shorter pins, would easily solve that issue.

The only pin that would actually be a problem though is the pivot pin for the rocker. The other two pins holding the upright will probably end up past the end of the channel once it’s positioned for the bike to fit on the channel.

Once I get it positioned and mounted I’ll try to remember to post some more pictures.

I wonder if notching the ramp itself would be an alternative solution? I know the bent up edge is used to strengthen the rigidity of the structure, but I doubt a few small cutouts would impact that enough to matter…

It’s great to see this! Thanks.

With all the money you put into the Dyna I find it hard to believe that $600 is too much insurance for the cost of the bike. You never had an issue spending to build it so why would you now. Get the Condor and be at piece of mind instead of trying to fab something.. As for the Dog and the wife???? Sorry bro the dog can walk...

I wouldn't cut it.
Put a piece of 3/4" plywood under it.

Yea I wouldn't cut the side down either, major weak point for the length of the piece.

I get that, however this is a temporary solution. Next year we’ll be getting a place up north for summers - once we lock down this new house with impact windows, doors, and a roll down shutter over the glass doors on the lanai (or “porch” for you non-Florida people). So It will be a waste of money at that point.

Measure how much space you are gaining on kickstand vs upright. Though maybe on dolly you can push into corner that you could not wheel into.

Actually, I think notching the channel might be a good option. The base of the chock is plate steel and will be bolted to the dolly and straddling the notched area, so I think it'd provide plenty of support.

Nevertheless, I'll probably just shorten the rocker pivot pin, or replace it with a shorter one, so I don't have to permanently alter the dolly. (Other than drilling a few holes in the base to mount the chock)

I've found the HF dolly to be plenty sturdy and stable enough to move my 950 LB bike around in my shop during the winter. I think I paid around $30 for the dolly on Craigslist a few years ago, and I already had the Condor chock, so that's $600 I can spend on other upgrades & accessories. I definitely like the Condor dolly, and will probably end up getting one eventually, but for now this simple mod to the HF dolly will add some convenience for a fraction of the cost.
