I second the SAC grips. Color matches my bike color. Stuffed with foam and covered in woven leather. Real comfy and insulated. No cold metal on the hands. Isolates the vibration. I love them so far. They have hundreds of colors and styles to match your bike. Got mine for $65.
I experienced the same numbness in my hands while on long trips. I started to experiment with moving my elbows in or out while riding and that seemd to help. I wondered if it may have anything to do with my occassional tendinitis in my elbow. I tried wearing one of those tendinitis bands while riding long distance and it helped a lot. Just a suggestion to assist in the numbness. I tried gloves, I tried changing my hand grip, I tried relaxing, etc. But they really didn't help in the long run.
Seriously I need to readjust my grips after moving my handlebars up/out. I have the Ironside grips and since they have flat spots if they arent adjusted right then seem to put pressure on parts of the hand. Or is must may have been the cold lol.
Hello, sounds like you are starting to experience the early symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Are there any other times during specific activity that you experience the same type of numbness? The specific method to verify carpal tunnel is to undergo a "painfull" EMG diagnostic evaluation given by a Neurologist. Once they find the area where pressure is being applied tothe nerve and they surgically release the pressur, the numbness willthen be eliminated. There is achance that this could re-occur sometime in the future, depending on how you use your hands/arms. Good Luck! Hopefully your source of numbness is not carpal tunnel.
