Finding the right helmet?
So being this is my first bike and I dont know to much about where exactly to get my gear I figured I would ask. I have a novilty helmet right now, but for longer rides I would like something that is DOT approved. My only concern is I dont like the way the half helmets sit so far off my head. With the couple I tired on at the local dealer they look like mushroom caps. Can someone recommend a specific brand that is DOT approved, and is still low profile......thanks!

I just bought a new helmet a few weeks ago...Fulmer. Matte Black finish. I like it a lot more than some other half helmets. Doesn't seem to get too caught up in the wind. Oh yeah and it's DOT too

Best thing to do is get onGOOGLE and find some lids that interest you and note the prices. Then, find a Helmet shop near you and get down there to try them on. There's a lot of variance in sizes & shapes. If u find a lid that fits & theprice is right pick it up...Otherwise get back on the net and find it for cheaper. Worst thing ucould do is buy online blind. I was really interested in Modular helmets - luckily for me there's a place only a few miles away w/ a wide selection. I found out that every damn Modular was tight in the chin area.That trip to the store saved me $$$andthe hassle of dealing with some of the online store return policies. Good Luck!
