yea, and isn't it funny that the government doesn't require emissions tests on the big rigs that just POUR that **** into the air .................
actually diesels give of less polution than gasoline engines. it just looks that way because there is more particles in the exhaust that are visable to the eye.
diesels do run "cleaner" compared to gas engines, as far as percentages of pollutants put out, but none the less, with the number of diesels on the road, and the amount of pollutants they put out, they are just as hazardous to the general populations health as autos; the cost to convert diesels to use lower sulfur content fuel / etc. is outrageous, so that ain't happening anytime soon, as well as some of the other contaminants they put out - if a search is done for diesel engine air pollution, there's a shitload of info on this - but, for the most part, WTF, not gonna change anytime soon anyway.
