The H-D tool for pressing the bearing sleeve screws onto the end of the mainshaft and just pushes it on. Be sure the camphered end of the bearing is toward the pulley. Leave enough room to get the extractor tool in there in the event you have to remove it again some day. I think that if you hammer it on there, it would cause excessive lateral force against the tranny door plate bearings where the lock nut is.

That is true, but the upgraded bearing is not a race and inner bearing like the OEM bearing. It is a one piece sealed bearing. I had pressed it into the primary case and I actually made an installer myself on my lathe. When I actually got to the point of installing the primary case with the new bearing, it simply slid right over the main shaft. It was not a pressed fit as I thought it would be. I got it all installed this weekend. Finished up Saturday evening at 6pm. Had a small problem with front brake caliper and wheel bearing shims. Got that solved also, then took it for a ride today. Drove the bike about 120 miles or so, and I have to say that is the absolute best thing I could have done to that bike. Add the 6 speed gear set, I mean. With having redone all wheel bearings properly and the new tranny conversion it rides like a new bike. Sorry it took so long replying. I've been working non-stop this weekend. Now it's time to get ready for a road trip!
