I have a 1985 1000 Sportster and my spring feel off. I need to know how it ataches to the frame. Just busted a new spring trying to reattach it.

 

Put your hog up on your MC lift. I found it is easier to remove the "Leg Stop" which allows you to swing the kickstand forward. Where you can hook the new spring on then swing it back to the stowed position. Then you re-install the Leg stop per the service manual.
