Default Service myself

I have my 10k coming up in about 500miles on my 09 road king and the price to have the dealership do the work is insane. I am thinking about buying the service manual and doing it myself. I have read it does not void the warranty if you save reciepts and keep a log. Is this True? And how difficult is it to do the service myself, i am moderatly mechanically inclined. Do you need any special tools? Thanks in advance

a good torque wrench, an oil filter wrench with a notch in it (bought mine at the dealer). YEs, save all your receipts and keep a log. I have a small notebook I keep in my tour pak. record everything, including trips and gas mileage, in it.

I have always serviced my own bikes. Invest your money in the manual and tools. It's easy stuff. I bought my previous bike new and never had a problem with warranty work. They asked a few times and I told them I did my own service end of story. Any problem you might have is a few key board strokes away.
