Oil Filter Magnets

What does everyone think of the magnets you can put on your oil filters,are they a waste of money or a good investment?

Anything big enough to be picked up by the magent and seen by you will be filtered out. I think the only advantage is that if you cut the filter apart, it's easier to see the particles stuck to the sides rather than in the filter media. Just don't remove the magnets until after you cut the can apart.

Lets just say this on the magnet, it would only pic up steel parts anyway? so all the aluminum would be the filter, so what would you actually know or benefit from this? All the drain plugs have a magnet on them to pic up the metal. I am just asking?
