Question on Tank Decals

Just wondering if a Tank decal would stay on a tank without clear coat over top? I am thinking of doing a rattle can flat Olive Drab paint job and unless I find some matte clear coat I think I am just going to leave it.

The decal is usually covered by the clearcoat. If you sand off the clear coat you will more than likely scratch the plastic decal.

I was going to sand down everything off an extra tank I have, then repaint it Olive Drab, (from a can) no clear coat and then put decals on. Just didn't want to put $50 tank decals on, if they wouldn't stay.

the tank decals are just like ones used on cars and trucks over the clearcoat. They will stay on without clearcoat
