Default Severe overheating

I just returned from the Nashville truck race this morning. It's about a 3hr ride from here which was nice even though I was surronded by semi trucks in the rain after dark coming into Nasville (white knucke time). The problem is that after the race we were riding back into town to the hotel when we got caught in the traffic going to the Titans pre-season game. I was still or crawling for about 20min. I was warned about the bike heating me up so I installed the "no more fried thighs" sheilds which helped somewhat. The problem is that after we started moving again we found the nearest off ramp and wound our way downtown to the hotel. When I tried to accelerate away from a four way stop, one of my buddies started honking behind me a telling me to pull over. He stated that when I accelerated away my bike let loose with a puff of smoke out of the left pipe. It didn't make any unusual noises and seemed to run normally (it only has 700mi on it, I bought it last week). No warning lights of any kind but the oil pressure was around 12psi at idle.
I should mention I'm riding an 07 Ultra Classic Electra Glide. One of the guys that was with me rides an 06 Ultra Classic with a 95ci engine built to the hilt and he showed me his oil pressure at idle and it was also very low.
I plan on having the oil changed a little early for the first service after the bike got hot but can anyone tell me if I may have caused serious damage. Should I have the dealer run any kind of test to check for overheating damage? I had to ride the bike home this morning and it seems fine but I'm worried that I may have damage that may not show up until later. The bike is 100% stock right now.

The problem is its still stock if you hook up some new pipes and air intake and take it to a good dyno guy you will no longer have heat managment problems. HD has the thing set so freaking lean to meet epa it will go into heat managment anytime you come off the interstate in hot weather

Fuel Iinjectors still putting fuel in cylinder to cool it off but the spark is retarded. That is just unspent fuel.

I could be wrong but thought I read where the 07's don't have heat mngmt turned on unless you ask for the dealer to turn it on. I could have misread something though.

Thanks for the info. Thats a load off. I would like to find a true duel and muffler setup that will give me some sound but I would still like to listen to the stereo at 65mph. I've heard the screamin eagle slip ons but I would really like to go to a true duel system if I'm going to do any work on the exhaust.

Get used to the fact that Harley's don't run a lot of oil pressure when they are hot. The oil system is not like an automobile. I've seen my bike (and other's) go to almost '0' when in a traffic tie up in the middle of a 90+ degree day. I run an oil cooler which helps...when you're moving. For the most part (when running along) I'm always around 20 PSI even in Midwest summer heat.

harley uses a roller bearing on the crankshaft.it looks similar to an axle bearing in a rear wheel drive car.hence it doesnt hold a lot of pressure after it warms up.
