My friend's Heritage SoftTail lost the lower end; big noises. Fixed under warranty; he went with the gear drive, and they changed out the lower end and cases. I heard the change away from the Timken crank bearing was a mistake. I think the high pressure oiling and plain bearing lower end are an improvement IMHO. I run an EVO, which is fine at 50hp.
Hi, does any one know about engine failures on twin cams, do you need the conversion done at certain mileage,
What conversion do you speak off?? Anything after the 02 models could possibly have crank problems. Some other smaller problems exist, but nothing really that can't be fixed, or improved on.The after market industry has addressed pretty much all of the twin cams short comings!!!
I had a slight vibration in the hand grips, then it went to the footpegs. At a little over 30,000 miles, and after 17,000 miles on a 95" build, I lost the crank.

I'm running a Jagg Oil Cooler. It's a 10 row instead of the HD,which I think is a 6 row!!! The Lenale fan is better looking & blows more air across the heads.I'm running more compression ,so I want the best!!! No overheating issues here!!!
