Please help!!!
Just got my first Harley!
*97 Road King Police*
Decided to get to know the bike alittle
I did a engine oil flush, tranny flush, primary flush, spark plugs, chain tension adjustment and will do the air filter and brakes next.
I have questions about my measurements, cant afford the manual just yet and not necessary for these very basic fluids
I put to much oil the first time around, took someones advice to put 4 quartz plus filter which really came back to haunt me. ended up using a turkey baster with a straw in it to suck out the excess oil till it reached half full when cold standing up.
also changed the tranny fluid till it had about the same, half full when cold
the primary derby cover caps WERE STRIPPED! not the threads just the top part, the insert part. I already drained the fluid so i put a whole quart in the chain inspection side A till i figure out what to do to check it...
I wanted to do the clutch pack and cable adjustment too...
So now im pretty sure my oil and tranny levels are good. can anyone give me some advice on how to check my primary level through the chain cover and WHAT THE HELL I SHOULD DO IN THE FUTURE WHEN I NEED TO TAKE IT OFF?
although the bolts are stripped they're not leaking so not a big deal for now.
and does anyone have additional advice for a new rider with a new big bike?
