Hello...Just bought a 94 electra glide classic, bored 20 over, new heads(32000 miles ago) and andrews cams....the baffles have apparently been taken out of the stock mufflers but everything else appears original. 70 mph down hill on this thing is top speed...a quarter of the throtle is dead...I have checked the throtle plate and it's opening all the way...I advanced the timing till I ran out of adjustment and it helped some(no it's not pinging)
I'm really not a speed freak but like to have it right.....Are evo engines just this slow or do I need to change something???
I'd say you have a problem. I had a '95 Road King that would easily top 100 on level ground.
As to what it could be, do some searches on here and you will find that there could be dozens of different problems that result in power loss.
Were the cams put in the same time as the heads? It could be that they weren't installed right. If the mechanic missed the proper line up by a gear tooth or two you could definitely lose power.
Thanks for the replys....The engine starts idles and takes gas good, does seem a little flat out on the road, It did sneeze back through the carb alot but advancing the sensor plate helped that a bunch....my next step i guess will be to rebuild the carb....oh yea, and I did replace the voes switch with a new one so thats out of the way.....Thans again, Greg
the cams were put in at the same time as that the haeds were put on and the jugs were bored from what I was told....the guy that did the work is very well liked ion the local harley circle so I just have to assume he knew what he was doing there.....Thanks , Greg
