CB Radio squelch closed

CB Radio squelch closed
I have an 06 Ultra Classic. My CB isn't working. I suspect it is because the squelch says "squelch closed". Any ideas on how to get it back to where I can adjust the squelce by using the + -??

I just push in the left thumb **** when the CB is going on.. **** that goes back and forth. Shaped like(l). Squelch showes up and I pull the thumb **** back until squelch breaks then bump it back up one bar. Thats how I ride.
