I wasn't sure which section to post this in so I picked "other" Me and my wife just had an anniversary and she bought me a detachable fairing off ebay. It's a new hand laid fiberglass fairing with stainless mounts and windshield. I did a search here and found some info on Road King fairing install and haven't found what I was looking for. Anyway it seems as though the nacelle is too big to let the fairing come down to where it needs to be. Being that this was a complete surprise to me I'm kind of stumped on where to go next.
It just came today and it looks to be well made. I've been in the autobody/industrial refinishing trade for almost 30 years and I can tell by looking at the inside it's hand laid fiberglass. Straight as an arrow too but like I said my headlight nacelle is too big for it to fit properly.
Yeah, I've been thinking of making a Street King out of her for a while but this kind of took me by surprise. I was kind of hoping there would be a fix for this that wouldn't require any serious hacking. I could cut out the offending parts and shape it to fit if I had to but I was hoping to find an easier option if I could.
That's what I was kinda thinking. I've been doing a little more test fitting today and that's the thought that was roaming through my head. It doesn't appear to me to be a major rebuild, just a bit of tweaking. Fiberglass is easy to work with as long as a person approaches it right. Thanx for your pics.
What would it look like if you removed the outer chrome f the Nacelle its not like your going to see any of it with the fairing over top of it. Betcha if you took the fairing off a SG it would look like a RK without a nacelle kit.

I was wondering that too. SG's or EG's would probably look pretty much the same. I was thinking of going to the dealership tomorrow to take a look. This fairing is detachable but the likelihood of me taking it off is slim to none so if the nacelle was gone and you couldn't see it anyway it might be another option. If it's going to expose too much by removing the nacelle I'll probably just cut it to fit and do the fiberglass repair afterward. Ill be poking around with it shortly.
