Default Throttle grip is loose. Please help

My throttle grip is loose. What I mean is that it jiggles from left to right. I noticed this after I had my bars replaced. Its not crazy loose but it most definatley feels funky. Would moving the switch housing to the right/closer to the grip fix the problem or is there a way to tighten it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Having the same problem. Just had my stock bars replaced today and when I rode off, the grip felt really loose, to the the point that I kept goosing the gas a little with every bump in the road. I circle the block and brought it back. The owner had already left, but one of his guys said it's a simple adjustment and took in the garage. He was back in 5 minutes, and it was better...but not what it was. I didn't have time to go back again today, so I'm heading back down in the morning.

I did a bunch of searching and every post I've read says this is normal, but I know what it felt like before, and this doesn't feel normal to me.

I had the same issue when I replaced my grips. Have someone given you a hand to hold it in place while you tightening the screws on the switch housings. That cleared up all the issues for me.

The throttle drum is kept in place by the throttle housing itself. There is some play to be had as the width of the drum that the cables attach is skinnier than the inner diameter of the cast throttle housing. Cant say if this is the case on your bikes but originally the complete assembly was slid further to the center of the bars it would take up more slack. In fact with after market it probably can be slid so far in the throttle drum will be hard to twist and/of not return, a safety hazard to say the least. Every HD Ive owned had/had a cast tab of sorts that locks into a hole in the factory bars to basically keep the entire assembly and throttle somewhat locked to the bars to prevent slipping off or twisting. Every time Ive installed aftermarket bars the hole never existed and the tab on the stock controls had to be trimmed off. For carbed bikes and possibly the same for FI bikes ( check your manuals), regarding to much play in the twist department... that's a function of adjusting the cables. Basically both been to be loosened then the one that gives throttle adjusted to the point where it takes up all the slack to provide full throttle. It also need to be checked with the bars turned full lock to lock because it will tighten things typically. After the pull cable is adjusted the other is adjusted to take up the slack of "****, its stuck in WFO" cable.

Push the throttle grip all the way in towards the bike. The electronic throttle is kinda spring loaded that it pushes back. I had someone push the grip all the way inward while I tightened the switch housings. I needed a second hand as I couldn't get it tight enough by myself. That got rid of all the extra slack / play in the throttle for me.

No matter where I put the switch housing, the throttle grip is unaffected.

I had the same issue. I had to loosen the brake lever clamp and move it in a few millimeters to make room for the switch housing to slide inward a bit to tighten up the grip. My new grips are a bit longer than stock. just make sure your throttle returns to idle position like it should.

Yes I put the switch housing all the way in. On the WO578's it goes from 1" to 1 1/4" so it can only go in so far
