Default How old is your drive belt??

I picked up an 03' Heritage Classic it has 10,000 miles on it. Should I be concerned with an 11 year old belt??

Is there an interval that's recommended before changing out the belt or does a guy just check it once in a while for signs of wear?

A guy I know has a 99 Wide Glide with 110,000 miles and still using original belt. My 02 Fatboy has 20,000 miles.....I just keep checking for cracks at every oil change.

As long as a rock or something doesn't get caught in the belt, it should go 100,000 miles. I got 110,000 out of my last belt, 10 years old, still looked good, only changed it because I was prepping for a cross-country loop and didn't want to take a chance on it.

I'm at 43k miles on my bike (2002 FXSTI), and last summer I started having a growling, winding-down noise coming from the rear. It only happened when it was hot outside (95+). The research and advice I got was that either the belt was worn or something wasn't aligned correctly. I decided to just tear it down and replace it since I have a lot of other stuff I wanted to do as well (that required digging deep into the bike)

I got the belt off a few weeks ago and it did look pretty worn. I have a new belt that should be in today, so I can compare the two
